We grew the company out of MIT in 2013, and our goal is for each person on the team to have something they do better than anyone else, while also continuously learn from all their peers. Most positions are in-person, based out of our Davis Square office. We also are open to remote positions in Australia or Europe if if you are willing to own some of DevOps in addition to your core role. All roles have positions open for junior, senior, lead and principal / director team depending on your experience.

Your Role
If you have experience with or are interested in one or more of the following we would love to talk: recommendation systems; classic classification/regression models (especially GBT based); rule based and deep learning based NLP models, and computer vision OCR systems. Example types of problems we work on:
1. Building recommendation systems for not just one choice, but multiple choices in one person’s itinerary or multiple choices for a group of people or fleet. This is done by the combination of recommendation models with combinatorial optimization.
2. Building recommendation systems for customers with sparse past booking data, but more real time interaction data, using the series of interaction events like clicking, sorting, filtering etc.
3. Building automated unstructured document digestion pipeline by combining image segmentation, OCR, named entity recognition, relation extraction etc. Our models have already shown stronger performance than AWS textract and AWS comprehend, but we are further pushing the performance limit.
On a daily basis, you'll spend most of your time on model prototyping and pushing the performance limit of models with some time allocated to production systems based on experience and interest.
Skills
Three years of work or research experience in machine learning.
Hands-on experience of different types of deep learning model architectures.
Hands-on experience of Pytorch or Tensorflow.
You’re passionate about writing clean and robust code.
You enjoy working in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment and bouncing ideas off your colleagues.
Nice to have
Hands-on experience of natural language understanding algorithms.
Hands-on experience in computer vision.
Experience building preference/recommendation models.
Knowledge of operations research.
You will be reporting to Yingxiang Yang, our Chief Data Scientist. Yingxiang is an MIT trained engineer with a background of applying ML and simulation models to travel and transportation systems. Work out of our Davis Square office a few stops from MIT or work remotely.
